POP Nutrition | Spiced Apple Sauce {Vegan, Paleo, Gluten Free}

Hi guys,

Yes, this is that time of the year. Pies and spices in the air. Fall it is my favorite time. The time of sweaters, gloves, and windbreaker. Not too cold but just right to enjoy your time outside. The fresh air, I can always smell it when the fall is here, the air if crisp and refreshing. The sound of the trees in the wind and the crunch of leaves under your feet. I find it all very therapeutic. Plus. I get to make pecan and apple pies, and the house smells divine filled with notes of cinnamon, clove, vanilla, and yes, apple pies. I know pies, really?!?! Silly me.

I could not make it another day without apple sauce. I love it on my bread and just straight out of the jar. Well, it is delicious who can blame be. Plus my son bring leftover apple from school and we have a lot of the piling up int eh fridge by the end of the week.

So here is my take on a classic:

Ingredients:

Cooking Steps:

  1. Peel and core apples, and cut it in cubes.

  2. In a pot, combine apples, water, spices and lime juice.

  3. Turn the stove top on low heat and simmer for 45 min or until soft and tender. Make sure of you are taking a peak and would liek to stir the apples while cooking to wear a glove so you do not burn your fingers. I’ve learned the hard way.

  4. Blend in a blender until desired consistency. I blended half in my faithful Blendtec Total Blender and half with potato smasher.

  5. Let the sauce cool and place in a airtight jars. Store in the fridge.

  6. Enjoy!
