Free2BFit360 Inspiration | Change Me Prayers: The Hidden Power of Spiritual Surrender {Book Review}

Chnge me prayers book review - wpI saw a recommendation for the Change Me Prayers: The Hidden Power of Spiritual Surrender book on one of the website I was reading. I tried going back to I can give you a link but could not find it. I will do my best to update this info a soon as I remember which blog it was.

When I started reading the book, I could not put it down. It captured me from the first page. And although I always been drawn to similar types of books because they help me understand the Bible (I draw on other experiences),  I have not been able to successfully do it in a continuous fashion. It always have been more of all or nothing approach (that is mostly how I am, glass either full or empty and nothing in between) and then I get overwhelmed by the information or more by how many things I really would love to address in my own life, and no matter how easy of a read it was, I need time to digest it and apply to my own life.

The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple. Psalm 119:130

They almost never leave me uninspired and almost always every so slightly and a lot of times behind the scene change me into a better me or I would rather say peel of the protective layers I came about to building over the years. And almost always I got quickly frustrated with something it usually meant that I just was not ready and need more time to address other parts of me before I could take on more.

Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations. Deuteronomy 7:9

But ironically, through reading the inspiration books, I found is that one never truly peels them away. Just light and dark is part of this wonderful universe. Same light and dark is part of us. That is how we can udnerstand pain and love and earn on so much for love because it has always been a part of who we are. It is not something we acquire or can get. And no matter who it is – a kind and loving stranger or an angry and abusive one, we all want only one thing: to be loved for who we are. Alas, some of us will never find it since we are driven more by ego then the quest of being who we are and sharing love that we already have within us with the world.

The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight.Proverbs 4:7

The ego tells us – I deserve love, I deserve people to admire me, I deserve the best. The love tells us – I deserve to love, I deserve to admire, I deserve to give the best. And thus even the darkest time of our lives we have a choice to grow bitter and continue to blame our parents and dysfunctional family, the country we are born and it’s corrupt government, our friends who have all the luck, and our neighbors whose grass is always greener. Or, we can come out victorious and humble and through the hardship learn to be more compassionate and forgiving of those around us because just like us all they ear – even though many will deny – is being loved.

But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! Luke 12:28

So yes, this will be probably one of the many more books I will ready on this journey but definitely one that inspires and although it is simple in terms of providing life examples on how the author and people she worked with addressed their “mountains”, is not it the best way to learn and be inspired by someones testimony so we can give ours? After all, Bible as well, is a collection of people experiences and way God blessed his people and how, as human as we are, through trials, failure, and victory, many came to surrender and have peace within.

Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure. Psalm 147:5
